Relegation Preview

With the Premier league coming to an end the relegation scrap has never looked tastier. With Wigan, Queens Park Rangers, Bolton, Blackburn and now Aston Villa all the mix for relegation, all 5 will be fighting for their life in the final games. Now is the time for the players to make themselves heroes to all surrounding the club. This will be the biggest test both mentally and physical for all involved, 100% has to be given no less.

After a massive 4-0 win against high flying Newcastle surely the inform Wigan can avoid relegation now. Also beating title contenders Manchester United as well as Arsenal this month Wigan are showing the rest of the league why they deserve to stay here, and so they should. With only 2 wins in 12 this year before April everyone was piling their money on the latics to be relegated.
Wigan with the ‘easiest’ run in of all 5 teams, and being in such high spirit I can see them next season playing the Manchester’s and the Readings of the Premiership.
Mondays game will be a must win game as they face deflated Blackburn away from home. A win will all most guarantee safety but a draw would do fine for the travelling men. They then host relegated Wolves who made an amazing comeback away to Swansea this week. Even though wolves have nothing to lose I can’t see Wigan throwing this away in front of the loyal fans at the DW stadium.

6-1 has that finished the Hoops of West London? Defiantly not 4 wins in as many games at Loftus Road for QPR beating Liverpool, Arsenal, Swansea and Spurs. I can’t see how the players can fear anyone on the small home pitch crowded by the noisy fans. The Chelsea game just started off so badly there was just no way to come back after the stunning goal from Sturridge. Rangers under passed the ball all afternoon in the waterlogged pitch and couldn’t adapt while Chelsea took full advantage and ran the show.
With Taarabt back for suspension and midfielder Diakite looking to return to the starting lineup after illness I can see QPR giving Stoke one hell of a game at Loftus road on Sunday. Cisse back started against Chelsea after 4 games not playing and managed to get that all important consolation goal for Rangers. The hoops then travel to Manchester to play City who are hoping to life their first ever premiership title. I can’t see anyway how QPR can get any sort of result here. Having not won away since 19/11/12 vs Stoke (2-3) and 12 top flight games, it seems an impossible task. Not forgetting City have only dropped 2 points all season at home.

Having the 2nd worse home record one spot behind relegated Wolves, do the Trotters have enough guts to manage their first home win since beating Blackburn? Let’s not forget about the game in hand. 3 games remaining after a long season 2 of which some would say are winnable.
Bolton welcomes Tottenham to the Reebok stadium tomorrow night. With this game being a difficult game for both due to the unfortunate heart problems for Muamba during a cup game between these two.  I can see Bolton managing a draw here.
Sunday sees the new England Manager Roy Hodgson lead he’s west brom side for the last time away from home. Another tricky game, will West Brom be up for the game knowing Roy Hodgson will be leaving at the end of the season. Will he’s team play their hearts out like they have all season, more likely. However I can see Bolton snatching the game with a late winner.
Last game of the season Bolton travel to Stoke a hard ground to get any points from, a draw at best is all I can see here.

Not making 1 single shot on or off target at White Hart lane on Sunday I can’t see a way back, no fight or desire was shown. Steve kean playing with 3 at the back even though Spurs were destroying them on the wings, he decides to stick with the formation for whatever reason throughout the game. 1 win in 6 has seen Rovers get dragged back into the dog fight and are finding themselves struggling to stay afloat.
30,000 fans will fill Ewood Park on Monday to watch Blackburn host Wigan. All hope is with the clubs top goal scorer yakubu who has hit an impressive 16 goals this season. Young man Hoillet could also be a game changer. The 21 year old has been attracting plenty of attention from a lot of top teams, let’s hope he can carry on playing this way and maybe they have a chance to win the game.
Next they travel to Stamford Bridge to face the inform Chelsea. Could it get any harder? The way Chelsea just walked over QPR, had a historic win against one of the best footballing sides the world has had to offer. Blackburn will be lucky to get anything out of this game and I mean very lucky.

No win in 8 for Alex McLeish’s men last all the way back when villa scraped a 1-0 win at home to Fulham. Sitting in 15th place 3 points from the drop, a win should surely keep Villa in the league. With Spurs travelling to Villa Park this Saturday after a very comfortable win against fellow struggling Blackburn. Finally they head to Norwich who sit happily at 13th and have shown real character this season after coming 2nd in the Championship only last year.
Two very hard games, can I see them getting anything against Spurs? Sorry I can’t, although I do see victory at Carrow Road for The Villa, Norwich will have nothing to play for due to already securing safety which will make it a very winnable game as long as they put their chances away which has been a big downfall for Villa with only 3 goals in the last 6 games.

How I see the League finishing is Blackburn defiantly joining Wolves in the championship unless the pull of a magical miracle. Who is going to be the final team relegated? Not Wigan, they are playing top notch football and winning well Bayern would be proud. Villa will just squeeze safe.
That leaves QPR and Bolton, a close call this one. Will the game in hand come in to play and save the trotters from playing Barnsley I think so.
I would love to see QPR survive the drop and build on their already newly looking team. They will need to get a massive result on Sunday and just hope the other don’t win their games.
